Nike Does It Again: Imaginative Ads Conjure Up Motivation

As you may have been able to tell from our last post, we have a soft spot in our hearts for Nike advertisements here at FirstRoundAthletics.com. Nike has always raised the bar, not just in advertising either, and the below ads are a perfect examples of it. All of the ads were created by the ad agency Cole & Weber and are consistent with typical Nike motivation tactics.

Nike Advertisement: deep

This "deep" ad illustrates someone taking batting practice and giving these baseballs a firsthand view of the heavens. Notice that no one is in the stadium and he seems to be putting in some extra work to gain that competitive advantage.

Nike Advertisement: dig

The "dig" ad has some awesome contrast and shows our athlete working the jump rope so hard she is leaving her mark in the floor. I’d be interested in knowing how bad she works over that medicine ball!

Nike Advertisement: further

At first glance I thought I was looking at a cheesy hybrid ad, but these ladies aren’t too concerned with gas mileage. "further" gives you that go harder, push more feeling- just hope they packed their sunscreen.

Nike Advertisement: lift

With all the controversy surrounding Major League Baseball I had to smirk at this a little. Very cool concept for this ad though, and I would put my money on hard work any day out of the week over “"ther means."

Nike Advertisement: inner drive

A personal favorite, "inner" really hones in on next level dedication. Who needs a car when you have feet, right?

Nike Sports Commercials

Here at FirstRoundAthletics.com we have a huge admiration for Nike sports and their inspiring commercials. Below are two of our more favorite Nike commercials, which really send great messages of staying motivated and never quitting. Enjoy!

Nike - Human Chain from Find Store on Vimeo.

This is one of Nike’s newer commercials and even features UFC fighter Rampage Jackson. The song, recorded by The Hours, really adds to the commercial’s vibe and sends a powerful message of not giving up and getting back on your feet when you’re knocked down.

Launched as part of the “No Excuses” campaign by Nike, this commercial, featuring wheelchair basketball great Matt Scott, sends a clear message about finding any excuse to avoid being active. This commercial has a great twist at the end of it too, and really leaves you wanting to get out and get it done- regardless of excuses.

Top 8 TV Sport Themes of All-Time

Since the inception of TV, many shows opening theme is a calling card for its fans. It is something that you can hear and instantly be taken to a time where some of your favorite sports memories happened. Some famous TV sport themes not only conjure up memories of games past, but put you in the mood for some sports.

Below are our top 8 TV sports themes of all-time (in no particular order), enjoy!

1. CBS College Football Theme

Funny how you can almost use sports themes to know what season it is. When you hear this one, you know it’s Fall and you know its College Football Season!

2. ESPN Sportscenter

There aren't many TV sports themes that we go to bed listening too, and wake up first thing in the morning to hear it!

3. Monday Night Football

A sports culture classic…no words needed here.

4. NBA on NBC

One of my personal favorites, this song brings back memories of Jordan dominating the game of basketball and some of the better rivalries of all-time.

5. CBS College Basketball

Again, another sports theme that lets you know we’re heading in to spring and to the wonderful month of March Madness.

6. NFL on CBS

Yet another classic sports theme. Now, if only we could get it to play over Shannon Sharpe when he opens his mouth.

7. ESPN Baseball Tonight

ESPN Baseball Tonight is one of the better shows out there for baseball coverage. Once you hear this little jingle, Peter Gammons is sure to follow.

8. Olympics Theme

The Olympics theme is an amazing opening theme for one of the most amazing sporting events in the world.

Those rounds out the list, but feel free to submit your own favorite sport theme.
